Do Plugins Randomly Deactivate? | WordPress.org

This morning my client emailed me and said the website wasn’t working correctly. I logged in to find that all the plugins had been deactivated. I’ve never seen this before. Is it possible for WordPress to just shut down or deactivate plugins, or does it absolutely have to be done by someone? We’ve got strong login credentials, so I don’t believe it was hacked.

Have you been having syntax errors, or other issues with the functions file in your theme or child theme?
If an auto-update ocurred on your site, and there was a Fatal Error, WordPress will automatically deactivate the plugins. Or sometimes there is a cURL error, so it can’t make updates properly.

Kick this off, and see if there are any critical issues:

Just a note that I’ve had this happen on another website located on the same server! This is really odd.
