Do People like Content Slides?

    Serious question –

    Most nifty wordpress themes these days have some kind of “content slide” at the top, where a jquery (or something) slider moves some nice photos around and the last 5 or so headlines.

    They look really cool, but I”m curious – anyone seen any research that says people really USE these things? Do they really increase readership? Anything like that?
