Do not understand the instructions

    “4. Scan the generated QR code with your phone, or enter the secret manually, remember to pick the time based one.”

    I must be exceptionally dense, but I do not understand this. I use Google Authenticator on Chrome, and I have the app on my smart phone.

    When you say:
    “Enter the secret manually”–where?? Does that mean the next time that I sign in to my site? but isn’t that when I enter the code generated on my phone?

    And I do not understand the function of the “secret”. I am used to entering a code that I get from the app on my smart phone to put into the required box on signing in. But what am I supposed to do with the “secret” or for that matter the scanned scanned QR code. I can scan it, but then what do I do with it.

    I have several contributors to my site and I need to be able to explain this to them.

    Please upgrade to the latest version, then there is no talk about manual entry of the code, and no calls to Googles Chart API

    The secret er just a random number used to generate the actual 6 digit codes.

    After you have scanned the QR code, your Google Authenticator app on your phone will be able to generate the 6 digit codes needed to login.
