Displaying multiple posts – Slider

I was wondering how to put several posts on sliders.
I was imagining something like below (if it makes sense)

If something we have as a default were to look like this,

I was wondering if it could be modified to something like this
—– —– —– —–
< | 1 | | 2 | | 3 | | 4 | >
—– —– —– —–
