Displaying a clickable video
-
Sorry, but I am not sure exactly what version I am am on. The top of my admin screen says to upgrade to 4.1. I wanted to come here first and ask about doing that before I did it, because from what little I have gleaned about themes, they are not compatible with every update of WordPress. If you tell me how to find the version, I will report it here.
My real question, however, relates to displaying a clickable video. This is the page I am having a problem with:http://www.prayingwithdavidjesusandpaul.com/
I never see video boxes like this without seeing the start of the video that I am going to click on. Why doesn’t my media show the start of the video?
The code for it isAlso, while I hate web sites that have only tiny fonts–I don’t even bother with those because I can’ read them readily–I don’t know how I got such a ginormous font.
Thanks for your help.Is there anything like a WordPress cookbook or a book that is like a programming book, which would walk me through all the things I can or might want to do? (Nothing very advanced.) Thanks.

Hi AJavaJedi. I think you need to define a “poster”, or image placeholder, in your video shortcode. Check the video shortcode information in the Codex.
There are a great number of free WordPress tutorials online; just do a search for “wordpress tutorial”. There are also a number of “WordPress for Dummies” books available. I haven’t read any of them but might be a good place to start. Hope that helps.Hi AJavaJedi,
I would like to suggest you consider using YouTube as your video host for a number of reasons.
• They get to do the heavy lifting with holding running the content
• They are owned by Google, so Google likes to shows its stuff
• One more way for you to be found in another search area
• Use an HTTP:// to create a hyper link back to your website for both an incoming link as well as driving visitors
• It may be easier to then just bring YouTube into your site.Just my two cents
