Display the discussions

Hi,

Private conversations in Better Messages are visible only to their participants — there is no setting that publishes them to everyone, that is by design.

If you want a discussion that all your users can read, including everything posted before they arrived, create a chat room:

1. WP Admin → Better Messages → Chat Rooms → Create New Chat Room
2. In the Role Based Access panel tick “Can Join” and “Can Reply” for the roles that should take part. Turn on “Allow guests” if unregistered visitors should read or write too
3. In Chat Room Settings leave “Only joined can read messages” OFF — this is what lets anyone opening the page read the whole history
4. Turn ON “Auto join users” — every user who opens the page with the room is added to it right away, without clicking Join. Note that users cannot leave a room with auto join enabled. If you want this only for some roles, leave the option off and pick those roles in “Auto Add” in the Role Based Access panel instead
5. Turn OFF “Hide chat from user inbox” if you also want the room to appear in the users’ conversations list, not only on the page where you place it. Email and push notifications for the room work only when it is not hidden from the inbox
6. Copy the shortcode shown at the top of the room editor and paste it into any page or post:

Everyone who opens that page sees the room from its very first message — history is never trimmed to the moment a user joined.

To let users browse every room you created, enable the Chat Rooms tab of the mini widget in Better Messages → Settings → Mini Widgets → Chat Rooms and set Display Mode to “Show all accessible rooms”. New rooms are then added to the list automatically, and users can join them from any page of the site.

If you meant something different by “discussions” — for example a public archive of private conversations, or a specific page you already built — tell me a bit more about what your users should see and I will point you to the right setting.
