Display Categories First Page Issue
-
Hi,
First of all, thanks for any help you can offer, and for creating this awesome plugin.
I run WP 4.1 for a Series and Movie Website (www.foroseries.es) in Spanish. However, I just notice that with the plugin activated, the categories displayed in the first page for every entry, are not shown.
Here is a screenshot (you can also check it in the website):

Do you know how to resolve this issue?Regards,
Tamasco

¡Holà Tamasco!
I can not access your screenshot (identification asked) so I’m not sure what’s actually the issue. Feel free to send your screenshot at support[at]wpmovielibrary[dot]com!
Hi Charlie,
Thanks for your reply. I just send it to you via email. Also, I have uploaded to my website (what was I thinking earlier??):

Thanks for any help you can provided.

BorjaHi Borja,
Movies don’t allow categories by default, but you can enable it in settings; did you actually add your movies to any category?
Hi Charlie,
No, I dit not. I haven´t make any change on the default configuration.
The issue is in the normal entries, where categories are not displayed, are show as “Without category”, or simply without anything.
Right now, you can check the website (www.foroseries.es) where de last two entries could be an example:
The first one doesnt show the categories:
– “Animales fantásticos y donde encontrarlos”, spin-off de Harry Potter empezara a rodarse en verano
This entry displays “Publicado por Borja Garduño el 9 ene 2015 en Sin categoría | 0 comentarios”.
However, if we go to the full entry, we can see:
Publicado por Borja Garduño el 9 ene 2015 en Libros, Noticias, Peliculas | 0 comentariosThe next entry is show correctly:
– “Star Wars: El despertar de la Fuerza” podría contar con Liam Neeson
Publicado por Borja Garduño el 9 ene 2015 en Peliculas, Noticias | 0 comentariosAlso, the displayed Movies, is showing this:
“Publicado por Borja Garduño el 9 ene 2015 en | 0 comentarios”
The workd EN is IN, in English. Its like if it would saying “Post by Borja Garduño, the 9th of January 2015 in (CATEGORY/COLLECTION MISSING) | 0 comments”.I dont now if you can understand what I mean.
If I deactivate the plugin, it works fine. Thanks for all your help,
BorjaHi Charlie,
I just solve the issue, by setting to disable in Settings: Show Movies in Home Page. Now, the categories are displayed correctly in Home Page.
However, in “http://foroseries.es/movies/” I still see the last issue I told you in the last comment.
Also, the displayed Movies, is showing this:
“Publicado por Borja Garduño el 9 ene 2015 en | 0 comentarios”
The workd EN is IN, in English. Its like if it would saying “Post by Borja Garduño, the 9th of January 2015 in (CATEGORY/COLLECTION MISSING) | 0 comments”.I suppossed this issue needs to be fixed, if someone ones to displayed the movies in the home page.
Regards,
BorjaHi Borja,
Looks like a conflict between your theme and the plugin. Please follow up by mail as it is a premium theme 🙂
Hi Charlie,
Im not sure if that could be the problem. I tried changing the theme, and the problem still goes on.
I just send answer to your email.
Regards,
BorjaHi Borja,
Got your mail, thanks! There’s actually two issues here. First, a plugin bug that causes posts to show wrong taxonomies. I’ll provide you with a fix for this soon to see how it works. Second, the empty “En/In” is a theme bug. The two themes you mentioned, Aggregate and Trident Lite, don’t check for the existence of categories before displaying them, resulting in an empty string if post has no category support. I’ll provide you with a fix for this one, too.
And if this was to be your next question, no, there’s currently no way to display movie collections instead of categories, but that could be a nice idea, I’ll see if I can find a way to make this possible 🙂
Hi Charlie,
Really much appreciate your work and effort. I will wait for your updates.
Thanks for all,
BorjaHi Borja,
I just pushed an update that should fix the first part of the issue! As for the second part, see here for an update
includes/postinfo.phpfile for your theme to avoid showing empty categories 🙂 Let me know how this works!Hi Charlie,
Thanks for all. I will check it now.
However, I was coming to report a new issue 🙁 in this case, with Disqus comment system.
When displaying a Movie, we have the option to comment something. On the ones that doesnt have any comment, the layout breaks:

BorjaHi Charlie,
I just check the second update:
If I now enable the movies in the Home Page, the categories are not displayed in the Home Page. However, the last entry yes. Every, last entry, in every page of the Home Page (did I made myself clear? :S), does displays the categories:
http://foroseries.es/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/Captura3.pngI have disabled movies in the Home Page, as I think its best for the blog appearence.
The first update, will it come in a plugin update via wordpress.com?
Regards,
BorjaYes, that’s the expected behavior: movies do not have categories (unless you activated that option in the settings panel), so there should be none to display.
As for the Disqus thing, it seems to come from a JavaScript from your theme that sets a limited height for the main block of the page, so if the Disqus’ iframe is too long it just overflow from the block.
And yes, the update is version 2.1.3.1 which is available on wordpress.org, you should see it soon in the update section of your dashboard 🙂
That´s right, but it also happens in the entries, which they have categories. It doesnt displays it.
http://foroseries.es/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/Captura4.png
The ones underline in red, are entries, not movies.
Ok, I will try to fix myself the problem with Disqus.
Thanks for all!!
Looks like you’re still using WPMovieLibrary 2.1.3, but the fix is in version 2.1.3.1; that would explain why you’re still having that bug. Did you try updating to the latest version?
