@lob1av – We’re really not seeing this in our testing, perhaps there is more going on with your site that is causing this to happen?
We’d really be interested to see this first hand but we also do not recommend updating to current versions and then rolling back to NextGEN Legacy versions.
Were you looking at this on mirrored sites? If so that would probably be the closest we could ask for … feel free to send us your test results in a Bug Report here: http://nextgen-gallery.com/report-bug/

@lob1av – just to second Cais on this, we’d actually love to be able to see what’s going on with your site. At this point NGG is running reasonably fast in most environments. If we can get creds/access to yours, we’d make a priority out of trying to understand and resolve the source of any slowness. If you are up for that, just submit a bug report at Cais’s link above, and we’ll communicate directly with you from that point on.
Also just wanted to be sure you were running the latest version when you made this comparison (ie, 2.0.71 or later). The latest versions have some substantial performance enhancements…
