Disappearing Widgets

Hi,

I’ve been having a problem on a site I am developing with woocommerce widgets, specifically the layered nav one.

First it happened a few days ago in the form of not all possible attributes being shown in the drop-down. I eventually cleared out the woocommerce transients and this fixed the problem.

It again happened today however this time the widgets didn’t display at all. Again clearing out the transients seemed to have fixed the problem.

It would be great if anyone could give me some info about what might be causing this and what exactly clearing out the trainsients does and how this would affect the displaying of widgets.
