You can do that under Settings > Discussion. Uncheck the box that says “Comment author must have a previously approved comment”.
I have done that, but it’s still now working. Isn’t there some wordpress person here who can help?
I’m not sure what you mean by “WordPress person”. In you mean someone who makes a living with WordPress and/or contributes to the project in a number of ways, I would certainly qualify for that.
If your site isn’t working with the option that way, there must be another option checked that’s causing it, or a plugin or some theme code doing it. Give me more details and I’ll be happy to help.

Back to the issue, when someone posts a comment, it says awaiting moderation, I have unchecked everything “un checkable” but still same thing.

– all your active plugins under Plugins > Installed Plugins > Active?

Does it still do that if you deactivate the X – Facebook Comments plugin?
i have deactivated x-facebook plugin and it still shows awaiting moderation.
On new comments or ones that already existed? It would only affect new ones if that’s the case.
If it’s still not working on new comments, does it work if you temporarily deactivate all plugins?
I have deactivated all plugins, restored essential ones and its now working. I guess I have to figure out which plugin is responsible. Thank you very much!
PS: I hope the owner won’t regret asking to take off moderation from the blog

The culprit as it turns out, was AKISMET. I activated it and comments stopped working again. I have realised everything now works after generating an API and linking the blog to an Akismet account.
I hope it keeps working. . .
