I have BNFW plugin installed in conjunction with the Directories Pro plugin. When I installed BNFW, a few email notifications are automatically created by Directories Pro plugin including an email that gets sent to the Administrator when a “Business Listing Pending Review”. https://directoriespro.com/documentation/additional-features-and-settings/notifications.html That notification was working just fine initially and the emails were being sent to the Administrator as expected.

However, I edited that notification by changing the message body and I also changed it so that the notification would be sent to the “post author” instead of the Administrator. But when I made those changes, the notification stopped working altogether. I don’t know what could be causing the issue. I tried to revert back to the way it was originally set up (sending the email to the Administrator) but that no longer works either. I also tried to create a brand new notification instead of just editing the one that was set up by the Directories Pro plugin but that didn’t work either.

I’m really frustrated because all I want to do is create a notification that gets sent to the post author informing them that their listing is pending review and giving them instructions on what to expect. Why is this so difficult to set up? Why isn’t it working anymore? Is there a way to completely uninstall BNFW so that I can reinstall it with the default settings?

    Hi @cynthia554,
    Thanks for your message.

So I think there are two potential issues here, most likely stemming from BNFW being unable to override the notifications from Directories Pro because of the way the theme has been coded.

Firstly, disabling BNFW will tell you if the default notification that Directories Pro creates is working or not. If it does, then we know the issue is with BNFW. If it’s not, then it’s most likely an issue with sending email from your site in general or Directories Pro itself (perhaps via a recent update to the theme).

First thing you can try is to ensure both Directories Pro and BNFW are enabled and then install and set-up the Post SMTP plugin. This should improve email deliverability as well as provide you with an email log to show you whether emails are being sent from your site but not being delivered for some reason.

If this doesn’t resolve it, the second thing to try would be to contact Directories Pro and see if there’s a way to disable the notifications they send out, either in the theme options or via a line of code in your functions.php file, so that you can use BNFW instead.

Let me know how you get on with the above.
