Hi johno69,
I’m not sure exactly how you’ve configured your site, but the exact process I used to set up my site is what I’ve described in the documentation. As such, my site redirects any and all requests to the short domain to the same location on the long domain, including the root.
Check your configuration against the documentation and see if there’s possibly something you’ve missed.
Thanks,
– docofmedia
Where do I find the documentation?
All links to it seem to point here: http://docofmedia.com/blog/2014/02/22/shortn-it/
Which gives 404.
My apologies, johno69, it appears a plugin update broke some of my posts including that one.
That issue has been fixed and the documentation has been restored:

I’m all set up as per docs.
Set the domain as a parked domain in cPanel.
All shortened URL’s work fine, just the root gives 404..
Works: http://bwls.co/jgpDa
No good: http://bwls.co/
Seems to load the root homepage now ok, but it’s not redirecting. And missing styles due to not being full domain.
At least it’s taking user to home page.
Is your full domain configured as the main domain in cPanel or an add-on?
After brushing up on my cPanel terminology and config options, it seems as though a parked domain doesn’t set up a redirect. You’ll want to do that as well by following these steps. After that, you should be able to go to http://bwls.co/ and end up at http://www.lawnbowls.com/ or http://bwls.co/ashdkashdka and end up at http://www.lawnbowls.com/ashdkashdka.
