Perhaps a better idea would be to have everything on the “Main Menu” added to a new tab
It’s a good idea. If you click Settings, then you kinda expect to see the Settings. The ‘Show More Settings’ link bugs me, as you’ll know if you’re a user from the beginning, because it’s name keeps changing.
But I also like the idea of the Dashboard. There’s a lot more on the screen than just the Setup Wizard button.
I’d love to be able to get directly to the All Settings tabs when I click on “Postman SMTP” in the Settings sidebar menu
This means making Postman a top-level menu, instead of a submenu, and personally i can’t stand the clutter of all the top-level menus on my WordPress dashboard. And I’ve had feedback from others who feel the same way. I’ll have to think about this one.
Another issue is that when you click “Show all settings” and get the 4 tabs, the “Postman SMTP” submenu in the sidebar menu is no longer in bold white text.
And ‘Postman SMTP Setup’ disappears from the browser title/tab. It’s related to the way WordPress forces you to have a ‘null’ title for a subpage of a subpage. Haven’t figured a way around it yet.
My suggestion here would solve that though.
True. Does the Dashboard make sense as the first tab ? Maybe. I’ll try it and see what I think.

Yes, I agree. When I said putting everything currently on the Main Menu into its own tab, I meant the Dashboard – including all the links and text on the current Dashboard. So instead of landing first on the Dashboard and then having to click “Show All Settings” to see the configuration page with its 4 tabs, I propose that you are taken directly to the configuration page from the start, and on this page you see 5 tabs: Dashboard (or similar), Account, Message, Logging & Advanced.

No, no, I don’t want Postman as a top-level menu either – I also don’t like that! I mean keeping it as a submenu inside the “Settings” menu, but when you click on it, you get taken to “/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=postman” (as you do now), and on that page you see 5 tab buttons, as I mentioned above (which are all really on the same page, as you know). So that one page is the only page that exists.
Therefore the submenu would stay in white bold text, and the browser title would stay as Postman SMTP, and there would be no subpage of a subpage. Know what I mean?
I have at least a couple other plugins which do exactly this: one settings page, with multiple tabs on the page. Example: WP Maintenance Mode, which also uses the native WordPress grey styling for its tabs. 😉
