You can do this using the Popup Theme Editor. Go to Popup Maker > Themes, then click on the Theme you want to edit the background overlay on.
Look for the Overlay Pane, and you can change the color and opacity of the Overlay to your liking.
If you’re not sure what theme you’re using, check in the Popup Editor when you edit a popup, and look for the Theme Pane on the right side column.
