Different sidebar items for different pages

    I am new to wordpress and am working on a custom theme. i have a left sidebar that displays the drop down menu items of the main top navigation bar. I want the left sidebar to display only the drop downs related to the pages. how do i achieve this? currently all pages have the same drop down list and not the one just relative to the page.
    any help will be much appreciated. thanks

    I do not know how many different ways there might be for doing that, but I can easily imagine there are several, including plugins.

    Using a Child Theme, you could add one or more of your own and then call them with custom pages templates…or maybe a plugin would let you simply specify different widgets for different pages using the same sidebar.
