DIfferent Magento path on initial setup?

Hello! I am on the initial setup step #3

(Duplicate that file and place the new version in ~/your-magento/app/code/local/Mage/Core/functions.php – this file will now be used over the original, and will remain during Magento upgrades.)

My magento path does not match what is in the description. I am running version 1.7.0.2

If I browse to /app/code/local/ afterwards all I have is my theme file.

Any help would greatly be appreciated.
