different backgrounds for dif pages

    VANTAGE CAMPAIGN
    I want a stripe where my sidebar is running down the length of the page. I either need to achieve this with a body BG or a BG in my page wrap I guess. but how do I achieve this with wordpress. its a no brainer on a static pages but how do I do this for just archives,single and index.php?
