• When I installed my wordpress blog, I forgot to put in the details for my MYSQL database in wp-config-sample. I also forgot to change wp-config-sample to wp-config.

However, I was able to install WP without a hitch. How is this so? I looked in phpmyadmin, and found no database with the name and password put by default in wp-config.

I’ve come to realize that this may be a problem. Should I reinstall WP with the correct MYSQL settings for the database I set up just to be safe?

  • If you do not see a wp-config.php file in your WordPress folder (same folder also contains wp-admin folder) then the WordPress blog you are viewing is not what you think it is.

Does your host have some kind of auto install (like Fantastico)? Who is your host?

Do you have a link to your site?

Here is a link to my site.

wp-config isn’t there, but wp-config-sample is. I forgot to change the name of the file before uploading it.

I am fairly positive everything is working and that the blog is on my server. I was able to change the theme and access the admin section without problems.

I am hosting the site on my own dedicated server in a Linux environment. I have cPanel 11, Apache 1.3.37, and MYSQL 4.1.22.
