    Good afternoon.

In the process of working on the site, a lot of unnecessary elements (images, csv files, etc.) have accumulated in the media library. Several times I tried to delete them through the library. For some time, the files disappear, but after a while they are restored again (with the same name as they were). Especially, this moment is felt when it is necessary to replace the image on the product, since when uploading a new image with the same file name, the system automatically changes the name a little with adding a number, since the previous one is reserved.

Could You advice please, how can I completely delete files from media library or server?

Hm, I’m not sure why they’d be returning.

First, delete them from the Media section of your site’s Dashboard.

Then, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel (consult your hosting provider’s documentation for specifics on these), navigate to /wp-content/uploads/

Are the files still there? If not, they should be gone for good, because there would be no way to restore them (without restoring a backup).

If the files are still there, delete them from there.

    Thanks for fast reply!

After deleting files from site’s Dashboard files still present in /wp-content/uploads/.
Manually deleted them there. For the moment everything is good.

Thanks a lot and have a nice day!

Ok, next time you need to delete files, try deactivating all plugins first, then see if deleting them from the media library actually works.
