Hello, We are using the Free version Yoast. We recently noticed that our sitemap.xml had been hacked : it only includes dozens of URLs which simply do not exist…and we didn’t find a way to overcome that problem.

We already tried the follwing actions :

    1. Deactivate sitemap in Yoast
    2. Purge Cache with WP Super Cache
    3. Reactivate sutemap in Yoast

But it did not generate the correct sitemap.

    Hello @pacouser,

Thanks for reaching out. Could you please share a screenshot of your sitemap, highlighting some of the URLs that do not exist? You can use any image-sharing service like https://pasteboard.co/, https://snag.gy/, https://snipboard.io/, or even upload the screenshot to your own website. Once you upload it to an image-sharing service, please share the link to the image here.

    Hello,

Here is the link : https://pasteboard.co/K8DwMCsElvTv.png

There must be at least a hundred of those links, and NONE of them point to one of our existing pages or posts…

Thanks for the screenshot, @pacouser. The sitemap in your screenshot isn’t from our plugin. Your Yoast SEO-generated XML sitemap should be at /sitemap_index.xml/, but that doesn’t load as expected.

Yoast SEO generates XML sitemaps dynamically as you create and edit content. That means there should be no physical sitemap file on your server. However, it’s likely you have a sitemap.xml file in the root directory of your website files. I recommend deleting this file and reloading the Yoast SEO-generated sitemap to see if it loads as expected.
