Hi @dabesa,
Thanks for following up on this!
Subaccounts can be deleted by the administrator from the WordPress admin area at any time (or unassigned by the admin from the parent account if using the premium version of the plugin).
As for the frontend, starting from version 2.0.0 of the plugin, parent accounts can deactivate their own subaccounts from the My Account page under Manage Subaccounts -> Edit -> Deactivate Subaccount.
If a subaccount is deactivated, it loses access to its My Account area.
We have intentionally decided against allowing parent accounts to permanently delete their subaccounts, as we believe this capability should be restricted exclusively to site administrators.
Allowing parents to remove subaccounts would create severe blind spots and administrative headaches, particularly if a parent deletes a subaccount without the admin’s knowledge:
- Loss of Historical Data: The admin would be left with missing records, as deleted subaccounts might carry past orders and an associated invoice history that are crucial to track and retain for accounting, tax, legal, or auditing purposes.
- Active Subscriptions: If a subaccount has an active subscription, deleting it from the parent side would completely blindside the admin, preventing them from managing or deactivating it through the WordPress dashboard. The admin would lose all direct control and be forced to log directly into the payment gateway (e.g. Braintree or Stripe) just to manually track down and handle the subscription cancellation.
Please note that the ability for parent accounts to deactivate their own subaccounts is only available in the premium version of the plugin.
Hope this helps!
