• Help! I’m in the process of upgrading from 2.6.2 to 2.7.1 and I’m following the instructions exactly. I have my backup ready to go in case something goes wrong.

I’m deleting files and I have 2 files in my root folder that I’m not sure if I should delete:

    mysql.sql
    index.php

Should I leave these and continue the installation around them? Or do they need to be deleted? Neither were mentioned in the upgrade instructions. Please help!

    Thanks so much!!

  • Not sure what mysql.sql is, but it could be a backup of a MySQL database. Shouldn’t hurt to leave it there until you are sure. Of course you have backups of your files and database so even if you deleted that file you have it backed up, right.

index.php is likely your index file that invokes WordPress when visitors call… Leave that file alone.
