I am curious. I read some articles about configuring the homepage display but it doesn’t seem to work for my site.

I would like to show the excerpt of an static page on top and below the five recent posts of any category.

If I chose A static page in the Reading settings, as Homepage my desired page and as Posts page a newly created page named Blog I only get the Homepage shown. If I only set the Posts page I get the list of post.

What might prevent the presentation of both at the same time? Or am I misunderstanding something? Anybody with a suggestion how I could realize my idea?

    Hi Jan,
Can you please elaborate the term “excerpt of a static page”? As far as I know Excerpts are related to Post Types like Posts or your custom post types.

You can use the more tag also on pages, right? Anyway it would be a short static text that I would like to show above the post list but not integrate it in the theme.

Okay, I figured out that it is not a question of the theme. I also can’t get it work the way I want with other themes. I will look for help elsewhere.
