• I just installed WP. Love it. One thing that I don’t get, though. I have changed the default posting category through Options –> Writing from “Uncategorized” to “General”, which is the only other category I have created as of yet.

    There’s only two posts in the entire blog (one is the welcome message!), and I have moved them out of Uncategorized and into General.

    However, when I try to delete “Uncategorized”, I get an error because it says it is still the default!

    HUH?! Help, please.

  • Uncategorized is the default category – and you cannot delete it. However you can rename it to whatever you want and that might help.

    Uncategorized can’t be deleted because its a failsafe in case someone tries to delete all categories, as the blog would freak out at that point. You can, however, rename the category to something else.
