How about this? Would it be possible to auto create pages and assign the frontpage and post page when creating a new site?
I could have swore the plugin used to do that, but it doesn’t allow for additional pages to be chosen or to set a different page for the home/blog. You can set default categories, remove default links and add your own.
I think there was a forum thread in the mu forums that had the extra code.
This just seems to have been added to the wp.org http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/site-template/ which seems to allow for the extra functionality.
I was able to get the “Site Template” plugin to work, but had to create a new site from the Dashboard menu.. there’s no option to assign a template when creating a site via the Super Admin menu, which is really confusing.
