I don’t think BuddyPress supports this, however a helpful guy posted a suggestion here that might help you:

I’m not sure if I expressed myself clearly. What I mean is surely if I could make “My Friends” the first option in Privacy setting in the Status update box it would do the trick?

This isn’t an option. But you could perhaps use jQuery to remove class=”selected” from all the options and then add it to the friends option.
