Before this problem i was using “uncategorized” as deafaul category and the authors was restricted to use only two categories “Green” and “Yellow” with the plugin “Restrict Author Posting”.
So authors that didn’t select a category automatically post with “uncategorized”.

Now i have done different changes in the site and when an author doesn’t select a category worpress choose randomly “Yellow” or “Green”.
Why? I changed the name of “uncategorized” to “*”. the problem is caused by this change?

  • IF an author doesn’t select a category, there MUST be a default one used – you cannot have ‘no’ category.

SO what do you want your default category to be if an author doesn’t choose one?

Once you decide that, go to Settings>Writing and in the dropdown shown select which category you want to be the default one if none is selected by the Author.

Also, for the record I would suggest changing ‘*’ back to uncategorized.

    Ok, thanks for the reply

I thought that wordpress put automatically “uncategorized” even if the category “uncategorized” is not avaible for the author.
