My plugin runs upon the “save_post” hook. This hook is fired every time a post or page is created or updated.

Is this creation / update only happening when user is in the post itself?
Because it is not happening under bulk edit or if a rss feed is creating a post?

I’m not sure, but I think that’s the case. I might be able to attach it to more hooks so that posts updated via bulk edit and creation from rss feeds will also create featured images. I’ll have to check into that.

I will be happy to setup a test site for you.
I do not know php or wp; but I think I am running into issues with priority on post save. The way I see it, your hook should be the last one for me to process because, it is absence of all other options.
