There is also an issue with the color in customize: when I choose to set the metadata to a specific link color, the entire text gets highlighted, whereas I only want the links themselves to be highlighted. I’ve added a custom style for now, could you fix this in a future update?

Regarding the issue you’re having with the format, I wasn’t able to reproduce it in my test environment. Do you have any customizations on your site? I tried checking all the blog post titles, but I couldn’t find any title format that was triggering a validation error: https://ibb.co/XxfjQx4w.

And regarding the color styling issue, it seems you edited the content section rather than the post title, which prevents the styles from applying to the correct element. Instead of updating the content, set the Blog Post Page Title Meta under Customizer > Blog > Single Post > Typography and Colors.

In general, if you have any custom code or modifications, they will need to be reviewed. Third-party plugins can also sometimes affect certain features, so I recommend testing those as well. From the OceanWP side, we don’t see any issues with validation or styling.

Thank you for reporting this.
We were able to reproduce the issue and can confirm that this is a bug on our end.

The problem is caused by accessibility screen-reader text being unintentionally included in the datePublished / dateModified schema values. As a result, instead of schema.org receiving only the date, it can receive a value such as Post published: 05.07.2023, which is not considered a valid schema date format.

We have already prepared a fix, and it will be included in the next OceanWP theme update. The visible post date itself is not affected, this only concerns the schema markup generated for it.

In the meantime, you have a few options:

– If you are already using a dedicated SEO plugin that generates its own schema markup, you can safely disable OceanWP’s schema markup through the Customizer > SEO Settings > Enable Schema Markup (toggle this option off). This is generally preferable anyway, because it avoids outputting duplicate schema data.
– You can also temporarily disable OceanWP’s schema markup until the next update.
– Or, if you are not experiencing any other issues, you can simply ignore this validator error for now and update once the fix is released.
