    Tobias,
This is a GREAT plug in!
Question though – is there a way to create a column “Date Modified” that will auto fill/update when a particular row is change. I want to track the date modified for each and every row, when or if the row gets changed.

    Thanks,
    Jim

    Hi Jim,

    thanks for your question!

No, sorry, something like that is not possible automatically. TablePress only keeps track of the last change to a table, but not to a row.
For this, you will need to manually maintain that “Date modified” column.

    Tobias,
Thanks for getting back to me and I understand. I already implemented a column for Date Modified.
The challenge is that this is a table with 100 plus row and 4 users authorized to edit it. It’s not that big of a table, but it’s difficult to track / monitory if a row changed AND it’s difficult to enforce when people forget to update the column when they change a row.
I feel this would be a valuable option or function to have, since I’m sure many others would find it useful. Maybe it’s something you would consider sometime in the future.
Again, thanks for supplying this great plugin.

    Hi Jim,

I totally understand, but unfortunately, I’ll have to disappoint you here. First, and to be honest, I don’t really think that this would be useful for the majority of users, who only enter static non-changing data into their tables. Second (and that’s the real reason against this): There are some technical restrictions right now, that don’t allow a feature like this to be implemented reliably. TablePress just doesn’t make a difference as to whether a row or column or cell was changed when saving or not.
Your best chance, if you really need this, would probably be to write some custom JavaScript code for the “Edit” screen, that automatically updates the date column, if any cell in a row is edited.
The simpler solution would be to teach your four users and reinforce how important it is to you that they update the dates in that column.
Sorry for not having better news here…

    Regards,
    Tobias
