Date format in Excel changed in viewer

    Hi there,

    I have some Excel .xlsx spreadsheets on my website which I’m showing on the page using Google Doc Embedder. They’re simple rotas and have a date column for an activity, followed by columns for the names of people responsible. I’ve just noticed that the viewer is changing the date format in the date column from dd/mm/yyyy which is the default in the UK, and which is the default set for my wordpress site, to the american standard of mm/dd/yyyy.

    Is there anyway of setting the date format for the viewer?

    To be honest I’m not sure how this autoformatting works with Google Viewer, but I downloaded the original document and then highlighted the first column and explicitly set the date format of those cells to English-UK format and it appears to render in the way you’re expecting for me:

    I did have to convert it to XLS format from XLSX, but that is probably not related. Another solution to consider is to save your document in PDF format, since it is being rendered as a flat file anyway. That will help ensure it is being displayed as you intend.

    I’ll explicity set the format in the spreadsheet, some of my users like to edit the copy they download which is more difficult with a pdf. Should have thought that the spreadsheet might be picking up a system default for the datetime format.
