I have WordPress 2.0.4 running on a Linux server with MySQL 3.23.58 and the database type is MyISAM.

I desperately want to move the blog to my new server which runs Mysql 4.

When importing the old database to the new server in phpMyAdmin I receive the following error:

#1071 – Specified key was too long; max key length is 1024 bytes etc

My old WordPress is unable to export, so I downloaded the plugin that creates an xml file. I tried to import that xml file in the latest version of WordPress. Error: parent directory not writable. So I have set all directories open for the world to enjoy with 777 — and now the result of my hard work is a blank page.

    Please help!!
