Database Connection Error

    Hey guys,

    I’m building a WP site offline. It’s been working perfectly until today when upon trying to access the site locally I got the error message “Error establishing a database connection.”

    I did a bit of Googleing and saw that the most likely cause were errors in the wp-config file. However, I checked these and everything appears to be correct.

    I did some more reaching but couldn’t find any other information on where the issue might be coming from. If anyone could help me out it would be REALLY appreciated.

    I’m using Windows 7 and used Microsoft WebMatrix to install WordPress, however I also have XAMPP running Apache and MySQL.

    Has XAMP definatly started? Check services.msc (if you running it as a service) or look for xampmanager.exe under processes in your task manager (if you are running it as a process).

    Even if it is running, it may be worth shutting it down and restarting it.
