Dashboard reverted to onboarding

    Is there any particular reason why the dashboard would suddenly revert back to the onboarding stage? It had been running for several weeks with no issues, and suddenly it wants to collect all the onboarding details again. The rest of WooCommerce works fine; it’s just the dashboard.

    I do use WP-Rocket, and All-In-One WordPress Security. I tried removing all of their configurations, and removing the plugins, but it did not help.

    Additionally, I am unable to actually get past the onboarding stage; it will fail where it wants to select the theme, saying “Call to Theme API failed”. Nothing gets logged in debug mode, and I see no errors in the browser console.

    @jsbrecht Sorry to hear that. Did this happen when you updated to the latest version of either WooCommerce or WC Admin?

    Also, if you go to WooCommerce -> Orders -> Help tab -> Setup Wizard you can disable the setup wizard.

    It’s a possibility, but I can’t be sure exactly when it happened. It was just reported to me yesterday, and the person that noticed it isn’t sure how long it’s been like that.

    Thanks for the tip, about the Settings in the Help Tab. I wasn’t aware of those. After I turned off the setup wizard, it still wants me to complete the task list, even though all of that is already done. I can go into the various settings pages and see the way it is currently set up. It’s as if the dashboard is not pulling the right data, or any at all.

    I tried turning off the task list, too, but that just results in a blank page. What actually works is turning off the “New onboarding experience”

    If you scroll down do you see the Analytics dashboard?

    Negative.

    This is what I get:

    When I do Help -> Setup Wizard -> Disable: New Onboarding Experience, the dashboard shows the analytics as expected:

    Hi @jsbrecht,

    Very interesting – thank you for sharing those screenshots! If you uninstall and re-install the Admin plugin, does the dashboard show correct? Please let us know!

    Well, after reinstalling, I was able to turn on the New Onboarding Experience, and it didn’t go straight to trying to do the onboarding process, which is an improvement. It did, however, still want us to complete the task list. But, we just went ahead and ran through it really quick, and it is working now.
