I’m trying to see if I can save this site from getting shutdown. We dont have anyone with the knowhow of maintaining the site, but I’ve tried looking into it.

It has been idle for about 2 years, but I have followed the guides on how to manually update to 5.1.1.

unfortunately we can’t see the backend Dashboard menu; Pages and Apperance.

I’ve tried disabling the plugins, by renaming the plugins, one by one, with no luck.

Been looking for a similar issue on the forum but haven’t been able to find fix, without using the dashboard menu (which is missing).

Any help pointing me in the right direction will be most appreciated.

  • The menu you show looks like the user is one of lower capability than admin.
If you don’t have an admin user, or can’t add one, you might need to change the database directly. But you should figure out how it got changed in the first place. If it was not a plugin, it could be a hack on the site.

@joyously First of all thank you.

    It was a great help.

With my lack of knowledge of WP, I thought the user I had access to, had full admin rights.

the link was very usefull and helped me set up a new Superadmin.

Thanks a lot, hope you have a great day.

I just installed wordpress on my site and am also having a missing dashboard menu i have tried trobuleshooting it but not working still.
