Yes Yes…”happy dance” lol..It worked. After I renamed everything you told me to do abletec, I was able to log into my dashboard. It does seems I don’t have any plugins at all now. I have a lot of work now on my blog to get it back, but at least I can now work on it.
Thank you guys so much for helping me.
Ok so I renamed my plugins.off in the ftp and it seems now I can’t download any plugins back to my blog..what’s up now?
Ok, tjdavis, right–the problem is we need to get the plugins folder back–& that w/the right name.
So–the first thing I’d like you to do is rename the plugins-off folder back to plugins. Then rename the IThemes Security plugin to something else, as I believe that’s the 1 causing the problem. Alternatively, you can simply delete all the plugins inside the plugins folder & then reinstall them again, but let’s try the first solution & see if that works.
Great job, tjdavis!
I still cannot get any plugins to work on my blog. I am being overrun with spam. Please can anyone help me? I deleted the plugins from the FTP completely. When I try and add a new plugin on my blog, this is what I get:
Downloading install package from https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/jetpack.3.1.1.zip…
Unpacking the package…
Installing the plugin…
Could not create directory. /home/teresada/public_html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/
Plugin install failed.
Hi again, tjdavis. If you deleted the wp-content/plugins folder, simply create a new folder under wp-content named plugins. I think that’s why you’re getting that error, i.e., it wants to install to the plugins directory, but it doesn’t exist.
You can either do that via *secure* ftp or use the file manager in your web host’s control panel.
Please let us know if that helps you.
albetec..you’re a genius..it worked and I’m back on track. Thank you all so much 🙂
