Thanks for the detailed description — I can see exactly what you mean about that “Share this email” bar at the top of the browser view.
That header is added automatically by MailPoet on the public browser version of standard newsletters, and unfortunately the social networks it includes (X, Facebook, WhatsApp, and the copy-link option) are fixed. There isn’t a setting to edit which networks appear or to swap them out for Mastodon.
The only control MailPoet offers over that specific bar is to turn it off completely, by making the email “Private.” You can do this in two ways:
- To set the default for new emails: go to MailPoet > Settings > Advanced and set the Default email sharing visibility option to
Private.
- For an individual email: on the MailPoet > Emails page, use the
Make Private option in the three vertical dots menu on the right side.
Just note that making an email Private also disables its public shareable link, so the “View in browser” page for that email won’t be accessible to people who don’t have direct access.
If your goal is really to give your readers your Mastodon presence, the closest alternative is the Social block inside the email body. In the email editor you can add a Social block and choose from a wide list of networks, including Mastodon. The difference is that this links to your own Mastodon profile rather than offering a “share this email to Mastodon” button, so it’s a partial fit for what you’re after.
Since a customizable share bar isn’t available out of the box, the best way to get this in front of the product team is to add your request to our feature request board — that helps us gauge interest and prioritize.
