I deleted my plugins folder and it instantly started working again. yet, it starts failing again with almost every plugin I install. It doesn’t make sense.

Are you referring to the Theme Customizer? It does indeed sound like this is a plugin issue. Which plugins are causing the Customizer to stop working?
Almost everything.
contact form 7
any youtube player
rocket maintenance mode
infinite etc.
I have trouble finding stuff that doesn’t interfere actually.

I am unable to reproduce this issue.
* I installed and activated Contact Form 7 while Make was the active theme.
* I went to the Theme Customizer and changed some settings, then clicked Save and Publish.
* Everything worked as expected.
I suspect there is one particular plugin that is causing the error. If you activate/deactivate each of them one at a time, you may be able to pinpoint it.
I get this issue (customizer loads, but the preview is blank) on a relatively clean install of WordPress with no plugins enabled. The only general theme customizer issues I can find when searching are when you’re admin is on HTTPS or on a different URL for some reason, which this isn’t.
This is on WordPress 3.9.2 with version 1.1.1 of the theme.
Chrome’s inspector is giving a 403 Forbidden when trying to load the preview of the homepage.
Any thoughts?

Note: the customiser works if I switch themes to, say, Twenty Fourteen, so this doesn’t seem to be a general WordPress issue, it seems specific to the theme.
Current theory is that the POST data submitted when loading the homepage preview is triggering a mod_security rule on the server (it’s shared hosting). I’ve contacted the host to investigate further. Will let you know what comes back.
As this is resolved, I’ll make a new thread for the ACTUAL problem in order to report it properly.
Hi! I’m having the same exact problem. My blog won’t load the customization page. I’m new at blogging and am having a hard time figuring everything out so I haven’t really tried to mess with it too much.
