You can’t really disable masonry as this is a masonry plugin. You can use our thumbnail grid plugin if you like.

First of all enable advanced features in the plugin settings.
To display 8 thumbnails I believe you should set responsive=”12.5%” or 12%.

use post__not_in to exclude the post that you are viewing.

Thanks, but I can’t see how to use this widget in a widget area of a post because it doesn’t appear in the widget list!
Advanced features are used via shortcode, not the widget. You can use the shortcode builder to help you to build out your shortcode.
The shortcode can be inserted into a post or into the sidebar using the shortcode widget.
