• Hey everyone. I hope you can tell me whether I can customise a theme in a certain way, and tell me whether it was simple or not.

I contacted a professional custom theme creator but all he said was that its better if I buy a custom theme from him for lots of money that I cant afford.. beeh.

All I want to do is make it so theres a white box around the contents on every page, and the widgets – so I can make the background of the theme a darker colour while still keeping the text of the content and widgets easy to read.

Can anyone set me in the right direction on how to do this? I seem to be breaking everything

  • u have errors on your page.

but it is very easy. IF you know a little bit of CSS. The style.css file in your theme directory contains all the styling of your theme.

In this file you should edit the colors (background of the body)

Yeah I have errors on my page because someone was trying to aid me with something that didnt work. Haha. And thank you! I’ll go and have a look

Edit: Editing that simply got rid of the background completely, rather than putting a box around the main content and sidebars, but I’ll keep looking.

Here’s a writeup I did on adding boxes around widgets. Just some css examples for you. The main thing is to find the proper elements you wish to have a box around, and applying the css.

Nice! Actually pretty simple to get the widgets white. now to tackle the content. I should be able to work it out.. Thank you!

Edit:… It worked, without me breaking the internet! Haha. Thanks. A long way to go but.. thank you!

I’m glad you didn’t break the internet, that would make work pretty boring today!
