customised header in twenty eleven

    Just wondering if a tech savvy person could pls advise what I would have to do to (1) design and (2) upload a custimised header for the twenty eleven theme.

    To clarify (1):
    a) I assume I’d need to ensure my design adheres to the dimensions of the default twenty eleven header – if so, where can I find what the length and width should be, pls?
    b) Is there anything else I need to take into account apart from the header dimensions?

    to add a custom header, goto ‘dashboard’ ‘appearance’ ‘header’

    the header image size is stated there as well: 1000px * 288px;

    Thanks, alchymyth. But assuming I create a customised header in Illustrator, say, and therefore have it stored on my computer HD, where would I upload it in the first instance, pls, so that it can be added?

    have you tried to look at ‘dashboard’ ‘appearance’ ‘header’ ?

    Yes. It doesn’t mean much to me. I don’t understand the code. I’ll have look at the files on my host server – if there’s one there called ‘header’, I guess I upload the banner to there…?

    Pls disregard the above. I was asking questions without carefully looking into the twenty eleven theme. Have just upgraded to the current version of WP and tried a preview. Will have a good look at Widgets etc, and hopefully won’t need to ask any more dumb questions! Will post separately with any specific queries that might follow on from properly investigating the theme.
