customer export broken?

Hi–I’m trying to export a CSV of customers from the Woo Commerce customers dashboard and when I click the “Download” button on the upper right I see a message saying that says “Your customers report will be emailed to you.”
But nothing ever gets emailed. I triple checked our email logs and nothing is going out (email is working fine, other things like order notifications are going out just fine).
Kind of seems lie Customer export is broken. Any ideas on how to fix this? Have other users reported problems? Is there an alternative way to get this data?
For what it’s worth, the product CSV export function is working just fine.

Thanks for reaching out about this. I just tested this on my end using the customer export download button, and the CSV export was successfully generated and delivered to my email.
Since the export is working generally, if you are not receiving the email on your site, this may be related to the email setup on the site itself, the email being filtered, or possibly a plugin/theme conflict.
Could you please try the following:
- Check the spam/junk folder for the export email.
- Temporarily deactivate all plugins except WooCommerce and test the export again.
- Temporarily switch to a default theme such as Twenty Twenty Four and retest.
- If you are using an SMTP or email delivery plugin, confirm it is properly configured and not blocking background emails.

I disabled all the plugins but WC on my dev site and tried, nothing. Will go back and try the 2024 theme and see if that works.

Thanks for sharing the detailed system status report! I can see you’ve have already done some good troubleshooting by checking your email logs and testing with plugins disabled.
Looking at your setup, I notice you have WP Mail SMTP Pro configured, which suggests you’ve already set up proper email handling. Since other WooCommerce emails (like order notifications) are working fine, this does point to a specific issue with the customer export functionality.
Have you noticed if the export process seems to hang or if you get any error messages when clicking the download button? A few things to check:
- Can you go to WooCommerce -> Status -> Tools and run the “Background processing test”? Customer exports rely on background processing to generate the file before emailing it.
- After clicking the download button, check WooCommerce > Analytics > Customers and see if there’s any indication that an export is processing or has failed.
- Check WooCommerce > Status > Logs for any recent errors related to customer exports or email sending.
Testing with the 2024 theme is a great next step. If the issue persists, there might be a conflict with your current theme or a server-level issue preventing the export process from completing.
