    Hello,

at first thanks for the awesome Plugin.

    I do have two questions

    1) Am I able to add values (Additional Section) to the order with the custome field-function if i place the order manually? I can’t choose my custome fields from the additional section there.

    2) Can I rename the shortnames of the custome fields? Right now it’s called “myfield1”. Which is really unuseful (also in the context of my first question)

Would be great if someone knows the answer! Best regards and a good weekend Simon

  • Hey Simon,

To be able to edit the Abbreviations field (‘myfield1’) go to:

    WooCheckout > General > Switches

On the first group (General Switches) just check “Editing Of Abbreviation Fields” and save. Now you can name it whatever you want.

I’m afraid I can’t help you with the other one, though.

Hi @simonno, just sweeping past this one.

Regarding changing the shortnames I’ll need to pull the Plugin apart further to understand how this works exactly but on a quick view I can see that the string ‘myfield’ must be part of at least the WordPress Administration side of the WooCheckout screen, I’m not confident if allowing for custom shortnames would affect the Checkout process so would need to dedicate some serious time on this; time is the one thing I don’t have in excess right now. I’ve made a task to look at this as part of a future minor Plugin update.

Duh, I missed the question entirely. @flaviomsantos was spot on regarding turning on Abbreviation’s (I’m going to rename that!).

Regarding your original question, I assume you want to add/edit the custom Checkout value on Orders via the WooCommerce > Orders > Add New screen, is this correct?

    Hello,

thanks @flaviomsantos for the help. That works.

@visser Michael yes that’s exactly what i want to do.

@simonno, thanks for the confirmation. I need to ask a frank question, if I were to add this backend Edit Order functionality in a $10 Pro Plugin would you be interested in it or would you expect this as part of the free Plugin?

I need to decide how much time and resources I can allocate to this Plugin (amongst the other free and Pro Plugins), moving new business-focussed features to Pro makes sense to me and this feature smells like a business feature. I can spin this feature up pretty quickly.

    Hello Michael @visser,

Thanks for being open. I don’t think my boss wants to pay for this option. We only need it maybe once in two month. So it’s not really important for us. I just wondered if this functionality exists.
