Custom thumbnail

Is there a way to add a separate image as a custom thumbnail of the PDF? I’m using this plugin because it seems like an easy way for my client, who isn’t very code-savvy, to create a list of their PDFs, but the PDFs are text-only and they want to be able to select images to associate with each one in the gallery for the sake of visual interest.
