Custom theme for Home page

    Hi Guys, thanks for reading!
I am using WP 3.5.2 (until my plugins are updated for latest WP version I cannot upgrade) and the Alexandria theme v2.0.1 (great theme btw) and I have a need to lose the “main content” area and just have the “header” “responsive container” and “footer” as shown here: http://ifixmobileinc.com/iphones/ I created this custom theme intending to use it for my home page… but the home page always defaults to the original theme and I don’t know where to change this call ??? Any help?

    Things you may ask:
    1. the custom theme (ifix-template.php) is in place and working as expected until I select to use as the new static home page then it reverts back to original theme
    2. my custom theme consists of 2 new files: ifix-template.php and ifix-header.php
    3. Yes, I have read and “do not understand” this page: http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Hierarchy and this one to: http://codex.wordpress.org/Creating_a_Static_Front_Page#Unexpected_Home_Page_results —– but neither could penetrate the dense layer of grey matter that makes me do dumb things.
