Custom theme edits… how to?

    I’m trying to edit the navigation for a site designed by someone else. It uses a custom designed theme and the navigation area is not editable through the WordPress admin.

    Would anyone have an idea of how to access the code to make edits? I can view the page source code and see what I want to edit, but I can’t find a way to get to the files themselves.
