    Hi,
Quick question: I use UpdraftPlus (free version). In my site I use a lot of custom post types and fields made with Advanced Custom Fields plug in.

Does UpdraftPlus backup all those posts too automatically, or do I need to set something up? In case I need to migrate or restore, will I have to set up the exact same post types myself, or will it be done automatically by the plugin?

    thanks

  • Hi JustRunLah,

A WordPress install is made up of two things, and two things only: 1) its files and 2) its database. Everything is in those two somewhere. UpdraftPlus backups up both, so therefore backups up everything. The data stored by ACF is stored in the database, and therefore is included in the database backup.

    Best wishes,
    David

Just FYI, I used Updraftplus to migrate my site to a different hosting account (same domain name, so no tweaks required) and the custom headers for all my posts disappeared (these were powered by a custom header plugin).
so, not everything was backed up.

This was a minor inconvenience considering the time Updraftplus saved me overall. And I’d use it again without hesitation. (the custom header plugin appears obsolete now anyways…)

My next site i will adapt and test before adding too much content – proper setup saving time in the long run….
