I’m not sure what you’re trying to accomplish?
Do you want to change the output of one of our columns?
Or do you want to have a custom column that displays the excerpt specifically for your theme?
We don’t really offer support for specific themes or create specific columns for them, but we do have a custom field column that can display a lot of custom data stored in a post.
Sorry I wasn’t clear 🙂
I just want to suppress the post text altogether. I realize the content of the excerpt is completely out of your control, and the junk is completely from the theme I’m using.
Here’s a screenshot:

In the pic, the problem text is everything below the post title, before the bottom quick menu. It would be really cool to replace that with the Excerpt text that is manually entered, but if I can just get rid of it, I’d be happy.
I see what you mean.
Unfortunately we don’t alter default columns to change the behavior, instead, we create our own column and enrich them with extra functionality.
That said, we have a column that only shows the title without the excerpt and we have a column that only shows the excerpt. So you could use both these columns to get a cleaner overview page. But I’m not sure if that the excerpt columns will show what you want.
WOOHOO!!! That’s about 95% of what I want, and 100% of what I need. I didn’t think about “Title Only.” Frankly, I can do without the excerpt, so I’m calling this a complete win.
What’s really confusing is a few versions back of the WPBakery plugin, there was no shortcode in the excerpt. Now, there’s a ton of formatting shortcode, as you see above. I’m not sure what changed on their side.
Thank you! You have preserved my sanity 😀
