Custom Post access from Custom Menu?

Is there a way to have a custom post type PAGE that acts like a blog and is then accessible from a custom menu? I’d like to do just this or someting simplier if possible… I’m researching custom post types (CPT) and think that I could accomplish what I want with a CPT but being new to WordPress development i’m looking for some advice, any would be appreciated.
