How would one go about displaying the custom fields in the sidebar / as a widget?

Hi,

The simplest way would be to create a shortcode that does that. Here’s how to list custom fields: http://www.cozmoslabs.com/docs/wordpress-creation-kit-documentation/how-to/display-a-custom-field/

You just have to wrap it around a shortcode:
